quiet

I have a really hard time with quiet. I think it’s got a lot to do with the fact that I don’t sit still long enough most of the time to experience much quiet…but that may not entirely be it. because when I leave things off…silent…my brain starts working.

if I could shut it down in the silence, I would leave the silence alone.

remember that stupid game you played with your high school boyfriend…the one where you were both quiet for like twenty seconds and you decided that you just had to know what was going on inside his head so you blurted out, “what are you thinking about?”

the poor guy.

he, trapped, replied, “nothing.” and you were all like, “Ohhh…he’s thinking about something and he just won’t tell me…” and you found out much later in life that men actually have this uncanny ability to sit silently for minutes at a time and seriously. not. think.

seriously. about anything.

I want that.

and some silence. I want some silence along with the not thinking.

I’m getting a massage tomorrow. here’s to nonthinking silence.

Yes, we really CAN think of nothing.

    How was the massage?
